The foundation stone is to be found on the outside of the west wall of the church. As recorded, the stone was laid by H.R.H. Princess Margaret on 13th April 1955.
The good offices of Lord and Lady Porchester assisted in obtaining the consent of Princess Margaret to perform these duties.
The ceremonies were conducted by the Lord Bishop of Oxford, The Rt Revd Harry Carpenter who was assisted by the Bishop of Reading, The Rt Revd Eric Knell.
